पुण्यामध्ये सध्याच्या कोरोना व्हायरस बरोबर आणखी एका जंतूने गेले काही वर्ष धुमाकूळ माचवलाय.
नायटा किंवा गजकर्ण याची जणू साथ पसरली आहे. अनेक लोकांना जांघेत किंवा शरीरावर इतर ठिकाणी असे खाजणारे , लाल-काळे, गोल डाग उद्भवतात आणि वाढायला लागतात. खाज सहन न होणारी.
हे फंगल इन्फेक्शन आहे. जशी बुर्शी धरते तशी अंगाला धरते.
बऱ्याचदा केमिस्ट कडून घेऊन औषधे लावली जातात. या क्रीम मध्ये बऱ्याचदा स्टिरॉइड क्रीम असतात जे नायटा बरा नव्हे तर वाढायला मदत करतात.
नायटा हा घरामध्ये इतरांना पसरू शकतो, थोड्या प्रमाणात संसर्गजन्य असतो.
असे रिंगस् आढळल्यास त्वरित स्किन स्पेशालिस्ट ला दाखवा
घाम येणाऱ्या जागी नायटा जास्त आढळतो पण हाता- पायाला , नखांना, चेहऱ्याला सुद्धा तो होऊ शकतो.
हे टाळण्यासाठी:
-आपल्या कपड्यांची रोज गरम पाण्यात धुवून काळजी घेणे
– मोबाईल फोन साफ करणे. आपण फोन कुठेही ठेवतो आणि नंतर गालाला लावतो. लहान मुलं सुद्धा आपला फोन वापरतात.
– उन्हाळ्यात सुती कॉटन चे कपडे वापरणे, सिंथेटिक टाळावे
– जिम् , व्यायामानंतर ओले कपडे लगेच बदलावे व आंघोळ करावी
– बस किंवा सार्वजनिक ठिकाणी हात लागल्यावर ते स्वच्छ धुवावे. चेहऱ्याला सारखे हात लावू नये.
– public toilet seat वर बसू नका। ती वर करून किंवा कागद टाकून मग बसा
जर नायटा झाला असेल तर:
– तिकडे हात लावू नका, खाजवू नका. हात लावल्यास हात धुवा. नखं बारीक ठेवा.
– डॉक्टरने दिलेले क्रीम व गोळ्या नियमित घ्या. Follow-up साठी वेळेत जा.
– आपले कपडे वेगळे धुवा
– घरात इतरांना झाला असल्यास सगळ्यांनी एकत्र ट्रीटमेंट घ्या
– आतले कपडे इस्त्री करून वापरा
– जीन्स , घट्ट सिंथेटिक कपडे टाळा
– घामासाठी पावडर दोन तीन वेळा टाका
– आपला साबण वेगळा ठेवा किंवा बॉडी वाश वापरा
सध्या या आजाराची ट्रीटमेंट दीड ते २महिने किमान चालते.
हे antifungal गोळ्या व क्रीम स्वरूपात असतात.

Along with the current pandemic of Sars COV-2 v,in the last 2-3 years there is an epidemic of fungal infection in Pune. People everywhere are suffering from itchy patches in their groins, breast, face and body.
These manifest as small, round, itchy rash which spreads rapidly to round reddish black rings which become very annoying and itchy.
This is actually a fungal infection ( scientific name tinea cruris/ tinea corporis/ dermatophytic infection). Though not serious it is quite itchy and annoying. This fungus is mildly contagious but recently we see entire families getting affected by it.
Steroid containing creams like Dermi5, Panderm, Betnovate, fungiderm are often wrongly prescribed for these infections. These steroid creams have created resistance in treating this simple fungal infection. Nowadays a Dermatologist takes atleast 1 to 2 months for treating it.
Some things to avoid getting an infection and some hygiene points if you already have it:
1. In this summer heat wear only cotton clothes. ( Including underwear)
2. If you have an infection wash your clothes separately in hot water and sun dry it for 5-6 hours.
3. Wash your hands after touching door knobs, public property. Do not touch your face or phone frequently. We keep our phones anywhere on tables etc, and then they later touch our faces.
4. Do not sit directly on public toilet seats. Use toilet paper to cover the seat or put the seat up and half squat.
5. If you or any of your family members have this fungal infection all of you should get treated together.
6. Avoid wearing tight denims, synthetic tight churidars. ( People rarely wash their denim jeans everyday)
7. Clean your phone with alcohol swabs.
8. If you go the gym or exercise make sure you change your clothes immediately afterwards, take a shower and wash your hands. Gyms are a very common source of this infection as the fungus loves sweat! ( Also commonly called as jock’s itch)
9. Avoid sharing soap if you have an infection. Better to use a bodywash or separate soap.
10. Consult a dermatologist in time and do regular follow-ups as advised. Take your medicines and creams and also follow above hygiene habits. A dermatologist will treat you with anti fungals medications oral or topical or both.
